The Western New York Flash will have their final regular-season game of the year Saturday at home against the Boston Breakers at 8 p.m. The game will air on Fox Soccer.
The event has been labeled “Project Pink.” The Flash will wear pink jerseys that the athletes will sign after the contest and the organization will raffle off, in addition to a number of gift baskets, to benefit the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester.
The Flash have not lost since July 11 at Seattle Reign FC. Since then, WNY is 3-0-3. The Flash have held their opponents scoreless in their last five games at Sahlen’s Stadium in Rochester.
The four spots in the National Women’s Soccer League playoffs remain hanging in the balance. The Flash, with 35 points, are in second behind FC Kansas City (38 points) due to tiebreakers. Portland Thorns FC (third) and Sky Blue FC (fourth) also have 35 points.
Kansas City, Portland and Sky Blue all play Saturday. With a win and a Kansas City loss, the Flash would finish No. 1.
