ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — The West Side Rowing Club struck gold during Thursday’s action at the 131st Royal Canadian Henley Regatta and also sent two other boats into semifinals and finals.

The under-23 women’s pair of Kellie Solowski of Hamburg (stroke) and Buffalo’s Lily Keane (bow) captured gold with a winning time of 7:39.02 – beating second-place Craftsbury (Vermont) by nearly two seconds. West Side had another boat in the race take seventh.

The under-23 women’s doubles team of Anna Kaszvcki (stroke) and Holly Johnston (bow) advanced to the finals of their event by placing first in their semifinal in 7:48.22.

WSRC’s under-17 women’s four advanced to the semifinals. The crew of Chloe Keating, Sally Rozumalski, Kendal Smith and Taylor Johnson posted a qualifying time of 7:39.19, which was 7.72 seconds behind top qualifier Victory City of British Columbia.

There are more than 2,065 entries from 137 clubs and 105 different cities, including seven provinces and seven countries, participating in this year’s regatta. The event finishes Sunday.
