The University at Buffalo has sent three athletes, it’s largest male contingent ever, to the NCAA Track and Field championships which begin today in Eugene, Ore. The national meet runs through Saturday at historic Hayward Field.

Jonathan Jones qualified for the NCAA meet for the second straight year and will compete in the shot put. He’ll be joined by sophomores Mike Morgan (decathlon) and Ryan Billian (long jump).

Jones, a Portville native, shattered his own school and Mid-American Conference record in the shot put during the NCAA East Region Preliminaries with a toss of 66 feet, 4.5 inches. The junior earned All-America honors with a fourth-place finish at last year’s meet.
