The 22nd-ranked Ohio University women’s volleyball team had its hands full with the University at Buffalo Friday night, but the Bobcats hung on to defeat the host Bulls in four games.
UB had won its first 12 matches, but now has lost two in a row. This was the Bulls’ first Mid-American Conference match of the season.
The Bulls won the second game of Friday’s match, 25-20, after dropping the first. Then Ohio took control by taking a 26-24 thriller in the third game and a 25-12 romp in the deciding contest.
Carissa McKenna led UB with 13 kills and added 10 total blocks for her first career double-double. Dani Reinert had 21 assists.
“We didn’t play a clean match tonight and that is necessary to beat a team like Ohio,” said head coach Todd Kress. “It will be a quick turnaround for us and we will be ready to play Kent State.”
The match with the Golden Flashes will be held in Alumni Arena tonight at 7:30 p.m.
