Bisons rained out at home
The 1,000th meeting between the Buffalo Bisons and Syracuse Chiefs will have to wait at least another day.
Wednesday's scheduled International League game at Coca-Cola Field was postponed due to rain. The two teams will make up the game as part of a doubleheader Aug. 20.
The Bisons finish their brief homestand at 1:05 p.m. Thursday against Syracuse. Jonathon Niese will start for Buffalo. Niese has also been outstanding in his past two starts, going 1-1 with a 1.35 ERA and 11 strikeouts.
"First Responders Night," which was scheduled Wednesday to honor area emergency service personnel, including those who responded to the Flight 3407 crash in Clarence Center, will be held at a later date.
Fans who had tickets to Wednesday's game can exchange them for a comparable ticket to any future 2009 home game. Ticket exchanges must be made at the box office throughout the remainder of the regular season. The Bisons open an eight-game road trip Friday at Charlotte.
