Sabres' Kaleta says he's ready to go

News Sports Reporter

Story tools:

Patrick Kaleta brings a unique style of play to the Buffalo Sabres, a hard-hitting, almost reckless attitude that can change games and disrupt opponents. When he was diagnosed with a concussion Saturday night in Montreal, it seemed like his absence would hurt the Sabres down the stretch.

But tests done by Buffalo doctors this week have shown that Kaleta's head is fine. The winger practiced today in HSBC Arena and is expected to play Wednesday when the Sabres visit Atlanta.

"So far it feels great, and I'll be ready to go if called upon," Kaleta said.

Kaleta was injured on a hit from behind by Montreal's Maxim Lapierre. The Angola native's head slammed into the glass, and he left the game after physicians for the Canadiens determined he was concussed.

"That's what the diagnosis was, but I did all my testing, and I feel fine," Kaleta said. "I did everything I needed to do, and I'm ready for a big game Wednesday."
