How are you enjoying fatherhood (his first child, Lee Evans IV, was born April 7)? “It’s been great just watching his development and getting to know him and what he likes and doesn’t like. It’s a learning process every day and every day there’s a new challenge. The best thing about it is you get to see him grow day by day. Every time I come home, it’s something a little different. I think my wife [Miranda] has done a good job of facilitating that. When I’m on the road, I can’t wait to get home. You walk in and see that smile, it makes it all worth it.”

Enjoy those sleepless nights? “You know what, I can’t even complain. My son has been as good as a baby could possibly be. He sleeps through the night. Got a little irritated when the teeth were coming through, but you can’t blame him for that.”

What kind of personality does Lee IV have? “Well, he has a little stubbornness to him. He gets that from his dad. But he’s also calm and relaxed. I think he gets that from both parents.”

Is having a child at home going to make the holiday season more special? “Oh yeah. We’ll probably go crazy buying him any and everything you can possibly wrap up. Certainly this big holiday season is something we’ll cherish more than ever because it’s our first one together as a family.”
