UB completes football schedule

Story tools:

The University at Buffalo football program has completed its schedule for the next three seasons with the addition of three Division I Football Championship Subdivision (I-AA) programs.

The Bulls will play host to Gardner-Webb (2009), Rhode Island (2010) and Stony Brook (2011), guaranteeing UB six home games each year starting this fall.

"This is another step in our progression as a football program," said UB's Athletics Director Warde Manuel in a statement released by the school. "We have a plan to play a minimum of six home games per year and playing these competitive (FCS) opponents will help us accomplish that goal and create more opportunities for our fans and students to see us at UB Stadium."

The meeting against Gardner-Webb, from Boiling Springs, N.C., on Oct. 10, 2009, will be UB's first against a Big South football opponent. The Bulls meet Rhode Island - members of the CAA Football Conference - on Sept. 2, 2010. The Stony Brook game will be played on Sept. 10, 2011.
