Columbus beats Bisons
The Buffalo Bisons dropped the first game of an eight-game homestand on Friday, 7-1, to the Columbus Clippers in a game that was played under protest after controversial inside-the-park home run by the Clippers' Larry Broadway.
Broadway hit a hard line drive to right field with two on and one out, and the ball was lodged underneath the right field fence. Bisons outfielder Todd Linden raised his arms before reaching for the ball to signal that the ball was struck and he didn't have a play as Broadway rounded third. After a long debate, umpires ruled the ball was live and Broadway was credited with an inside-the-park home run.
Bisons manager Torey Lovullo said during a between-innings radio interview that he was protesting the game.
