Coming attractions

• In baseball, the Section VI Tournament continues today with quarterfinal games in all seven brackets. The higher seeds serve as host. Winners advance to Thursday’s semifinals. Championship Saturday includes a quadruple-header at Jamestown’s Diethrick Park with the finals in Class B-1, B-2, C and D on the docket. The Class AA final will take place at Niagara Falls while the Class A-1 and A-2 finals will be held at Lew-Port, in a doubleheader.

The Georgetown Cup playoffs begin with quarterfinals Thursday as two-time defending champ St. Joe’s heads into the tournament as the No. 1 seed.

• In boys lacrosse, the Section VI Tournament comes to a close today with a championship tripleheader at All High Stadium. The Class A final at 3:30 p.m. features old friends Orchard Park and Clarence. Both teams split regular-season division games. That game will be followed by the Class B final at 5:30 p.m. with defending champion and last year’s state semifinalist Hamburg taking on Niagara-Wheatfield. The Class C final between Akron and Salamanca at 8 p.m. figures to be a goalfest. Akron averages 19.6 goals per game, while Salamanca averages 18 per game.

In the Monsignor Martin Association playoffs, St. Joe’s faces Nichols to open a semifinal doubleheader at 5 p.m. at Riverside that closes with defending champion Timon playing Canisius. The championship game is at 6 p.m. Thursday at Riverside.

• The Section VI Softball Tournament continues today with 20 quarterfinal games played at the higher seed.

• In girls lacrosse, Section VI champions will be crowned on Wednesday at All High Stadium. In Class A, Lancaster plays Frontier at 8 p.m., in Class B Hamburg takes on Williamsville North at 3:30 p.m. and in Class C Amherst meets Lake Shore at 5:30 p.m.

• The Track & Field Championships are Friday and Saturday at Olean.

• The New York State Tennis Championships are Thursday-Saturday at the USTA Complex National Tennis Center in Flushing.

• The New York State Boys Golf Championships are Saturday-Monday at Cornell University.
