Coming attractions

• No. 1 ranked large school Canisius (5-0) will play in the Jesuit Boys Basketball Christmas Classic at Georgetown Prep on Friday to Sunday. . . . The Maryvale Tournament tips off on Friday with the Flyers playing Salamanca at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Hamburg vs. Cleveland Hill at 7 p.m. The winners play for the title on Saturday at 6 p.m. The Consolation is at 4:30 p.m. . . . The IAABO Tournament begins on Thursday with small school competition between Randolph and Allegany-Limestone at 2:30 p.m. and Walsh vs. Portville at 4:15 p.m. In large schools, Warren (Pa.) plays Olean at 4:45 p.m. and Bradford (Pa.) plays Nichols at 6 p.m. There are four games on Friday with the small school consolation at 12:45 and the finals at 6 p.m. The large school consolation is at 2:30 and the finals are a 7:45 p.m.

• Kenmore West will host the annual Matt Colpoys Girls Basketball Tournament on Thursday and Friday. Mount Mercy will play Nardin at 1 p.m. followed by the Iroquois vs. the Blue Devils. Nardin’s roster includes junior Caroline Colpoys, the granddaughter of Colpoys, one of five firefighters who lost his life battling a fire caused by the explosion of a leaking propane tank on Dec. 27, 1983. . . . Tapestry (4-1) plays Cheektowaga in the first round of McKinley tournament on Friday at noon.

• Indoor track’s Western New York relays are Friday and Saturday at Fredonia starting both days at 9 a.m. The large schools will compete on Friday, the small on Saturday.

• Wrestling’s Joe Shifflet Tournament is Saturday at Sweet Home. A field of 10 teams will compete in what will be the 48th annual event. Competition begins at 9 a.m. with the finals scheduled for 5 p.m. . . . Several Section VI teams will compete on Saturday at the Spencerport Tournament.

• One of the most anticipated events of the bowling season, the Festival of Lights, is Dec. 30 at Thruway Lanes in Cheektowaga. Approximately 30 boys and 30 girls teams will compete in the event that starts at 9 a.m. with all participants bowling a three-game set in the morning and three more in the afternoon.
