MacArthur takes arbitration

Clarke MacArthur has elected to accept salary arbitration with the Buffalo Sabres, according to a statement from the NHL Players Association. The forward is one of 20 players to take that step. MacArthur had 17 goals and 14 assists in 71 games for the Sabres last season.

The deadline for salary arbitration notification is today at 5 p. m., so more names may be released at that time. Hearings will be held in Toronto from July 20 to August 4.

Others to accept arbitration include Matt Hunwick with Boston, Nikolai Zherdev with the New York Rangers, and Jiri Hudler with Detroit.
