Detroit 4, Chicago 0: Ty Conklin made 36 saves for his seventh NHL shutout, and Johan Franzen scored twice to help the Red Wings snap the Blackhawks’ team-record, nine-game winning streak. Nikolai Khabibulin stopped 35 shots for Chicago in the start of a home-and-home series that will conclude Thursday outside at Wrigley Field.

Boston 5, Pittsburgh 2: The streaking Bruins ran their longest winning streak in nearly 26 years to nine games. Dennis Wideman had a goal and two assists for Eastern Conference- leading Boston.

Toronto 4, Atlanta 3 (OT): Leafs goalie Curtis Joseph made 29 saves to earn his first win of the season and the 450th victory of his NHL career.

Montreal 2, Tampa Bay 1 (SO): Maxim Lapierre scored the winning shootout goal for the Canadiens. New Jersey 4, St. Louis 3: Zach Parise scored twice and the Devils earned their fifth win in seven games.

Philadelphia 3, Vancouver 2: Jeff Carter had a goal and assist but Flyers lost Simon Gagne to an upper-body injury just 15 seconds into the game. Mats Sundin practiced for the first time with the Canucks on Tuesday after signing as a free agent before Christmas. Meanwhile, the Canucks got goalie Jason LaBarbera from the Kings for a seventh-round pick in the 2009 draft.

Ottawa 3, Edmonton 2: Brian Lee’s power-play goal in the third period game the Senators their first road victory since Oct. 30. They have just 10 road points this season.
