New Jersey 3, Philadelphia 2 (SO): Travis Zajac clinched the win when he slid the puck past Flyers goalkeeper Antero Niittymaki on the fifth shootout attempt.

Florida 3, Colorado 0: The Panthers ended an eight-game home losing streak against the Avalanche franchise and beat Colorado for the first time at Bank Atlantic Center. Florida’s last home victory was April 22, 1995, vs. Quebec in Miami Arena.

Boston 6, St. Louis 3: Phil Kessel had two assists to extend his points streak to 18 games. Kessel’s streak is the Bruins’ longest since Adam Oates’ 20-gamer in 1997-98.

Carolina 3, Montreal 2 (OT): Tuomo Ruutu scored 1:43 into overtime for the Hurricanes, who improved to 4-1-3 in their last eight gams.

AHL: Portland 3, Worcester 2: Pirates trailed, 2-0, midway through the second period but got goals from Marak Zagrapan, Matthew Darche and Colin Murphy.

Boston Bruins: Forward Patrice Bergeron, who missed most of last season with a concussion, was released from the hospital Sunday after being diagnosed with another concussion. Bergeron was placed on injured reserve, meaning he is out of action for a minimum of one week.
