The Sabres are banking on their prospects to eventually turn around the organization. Buffalo will get a look at the youngsters next month.

The Sabres announced they will hold their annual development camp July 14-18 in First Niagara Center. This will be the third straight summer the camp will be held downtown rather than Niagara University.

There will be on-ice sessions open to the public every day but July 16, including a Blue and Gold scrimmage at 7 p.m. July 15. There will be approximately 40 prospects in attendance, including those who will be picked during this month’s NHL Draft. The Sabres hold the No. 2 overall pick in the two-day event, which begins June 27.

The tentative schedule for the development camp is: on-ice coach’s practice, 10 a.m.- 12:15 p.m. July 14; practice 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. and Blue and Gold Scrimmage 7 p.m. July 15; practice and testing 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. July 17; and practice and three-on-three tournament 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 18.

In other news, former Sabres coach and player Craig Ramsay has been hired as an assistant coach by the Edmonton Oilers. Ramsay will run the defense and the power play from the bench.
