The Buffalo Sabres have a new Western New Yorker in their organization. The team over the weekend signed Williamsville native David Leggio to a two-way contract.
Leggio, a goaltender, will presumably back up Jhonas Enroth with the Portland Pirates in the American Hockey League.
The goalie was a star at St. Joe's and at Clarkson University. Last winter Leggio helped TPS Turku win the playoff championship of the Finnish Hockey League. This summer he played for Team USA in the World Championships in Germany, teaming with then Sabre Tim Kennedy, a former teammate in the Empire State Games.
