The Sabres signed offensive defenseman Marc-Andre Gragnani to a one-year deal Thursday. Gragnani had 12 goals and 43 points last season in Portland, ranking him third in goals and 11th in points among defensemen in the American Hockey League.
Details of the contract were not disclosed, but it's believed to be a two-way deal that would allow the Sabres to send the former third-round back back to Portland.
In three AHL seasons, the 23-year-old has 146 points (35-111) in 220 games. He has also played in six NHL games with the Sabres during that time. Gragnani was drafted by Buffalo in the third round (87th overall) of the 2005 Entry Draft.
