CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Kevin Pillar continued his hitting spree with three more hits, including his first homer of the season, and the Buffalo Bisons snapped a four-game losing streak with an 8-3 victory over the Charlotte Knights Saturday night at BB&T Park.
Pillar had his 10th multi-hit game of the season with two doubles in addition to his homer. He doubled in the first and scored on the front end of a two-run double by Dan Johnson. His homer gave Buffalo a 3-2 lead in the third and the Herd increased the lead in the fifth when Matt Tuiasosospo hit a solo homer and Munenori Kawasaki doubled home a run.
Pillar began the season 4 for 38 but has 37 hits in 94 at-bats (.394) since then to raise his average to .311.
Kyle Drabek (3-2) went six innings allowing five hits, striking out seven and walking none. He gave up a two-run homer in the first inning to Josh Phegley, then settled down.
Liam Hendriks (4-0, 1.01) is the scheduled starter for the Bisons today (Radio 1520, 2:05 p.m.) in the third game of the four-game series against right-hander Tommy Hanson (2-2, 3.26). The teams will wrap up the series with a 12:05 game on Monday. Buffalo will be home to face the Gwinnett Braves on Tuesday night at Coca-Cola Field.
