A State of Lake Ontario meeting is set for 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Cornell Cooperative Extension Building in Lockport on Thursday evening.
Ontario, with nearly three million acres of waters, supports a healthy population of cold- and warm-water fish species; anglers enjoy more than 2.5 million angler days fishing each year for salmon, trout, bass, walleye, perch and assorted panfish on this Great Lake.

The WNY chapter of Safari Club International is offering $1,500 in scholarships; SCI membership is not required. Applications must be submitted by April 12.

Hunting permits for the May wild turkey season at Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge will be drawn April 1 for 50 permits to hunt May 1 to 15 and 25 permits for May 16 to 31.
