Lopez, Fish both upset
Mardy Fish, Feliciano Lopez and Marat Safin were the latest seeded players to lose in the first round of the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington, D. C.
Alejandro Falla beat the fifth-seeded Fish, 5-7, 6-4, 6-2, and qualifier Robert Kendrick defeated the third-seeded Lopez, 6-3, 7-5. Safin, the sixth seed, retired from his match with Fabio Fognini after losing the first set, 7-5.
Five of the seven seeded players who had taken the court were out. The only seeds to advance to the second round so far are No. 1 Andy Roddick and was No. 4 Tommy Haas.
