Avon Anglers have planned two family-friendly ice-fishing tournaments for Saturdays in February. Both tourney sites offer attendees free ice fishing clinics with AA pro staffers.

On Saturday, a Honeoye Lake Ice Fishing Tournament, based at the state boat launch at the southeast corner of the lake, will begin with registrations from 7 to 8 a. m. Weighins start at 2 p. m. for the largest walleye, five heaviest perch, and the largest five bluegill/sunfish combination.

On Feb. 20, the AA aggregation moves to Conesus Lake for an Open Ice Fishing Tournament headquartered in Vitale Park at the north end of the lake in Lakewood.

Prize structures at Conesus include the heaviest tiger musky, northern pike, five yellow perch, and five bluegill, sunfish, and pumpkinseed in combination.

Registrations for entrants not preregistered will go from 7 to 8 a. m. Fishing continues to a weigh-in at 3 p. m. Visitors can attend the free clinic and pay a $5 fee for lunch.

During both the Honeoye and Conesus contests, a $20 entry fee per angler includes lunch. Kids 12-under with an adult participate for free.

Then AA ice-contest activity returns to Honeoye Lake on Feb. 27 for the 2010 Ice Masters Elite Ice Fishing Tournament. A serious team tourney, the event pits two-angler teams in a payout competition, with entries at $100 per team, plus an optional $5 Sunfish Lunker Pot.

Team members must fish within 30 paces of each other, and teams cannot fish within 10 feet of other teams. All gear will be inspected before competition, and the final weigh-in will be held at 2:30 p. m. at Sandy Bottom at the north end of Honeoye Lake.

For pre-registration info and details on all three tourneys, call Ken McGee, (585) 226-3149; Dale Rathbun (585) 243-0644; Bill Snover (585) 489-9965; or Elmer Ross, (585) 257-5015.
