Here's one observer's opinion of the current power rankings at Buffalo Raceway (with local starts, wins, seconds, thirds, earnings, gait, fastest winning mile, trainer, driver and date of last race.) 1. Hello Carlo (17-7-4-0, $42,840, t, 1:59. Larry Clabaugh, Jack Flanigen, 7/9): Won the $9,000 Open Handicap Trot for the third straight week on May 21 in 2:00 to become the season's richest trotter at the time. ... His pair of 1:59 miles are among the fastest trotting races of the season. ... Won the $9,000 feature with a tough first-over trip on June 25 and repeated with a 1:59 4/5 victory to push his bankroll over the $40,000 mark on July 2. ... Owned by Mario Caponi of Cayuga Falls, Ohio.

2. Arm And A Leg (22-5-5-4, $41,670, p, 1:54 2/5. Stacy Keene, Kevin Cummings, 7/17): Last year's top horse and No. 1 pacer has won just five times, but his the 7-year-old gelding's winning miles have been clocked in 1:56 2/5 (twice), 1:55 3/5, 1:55 4/5 and 1:54 2/5. ... 3. Newberry Winner (22-8-2-4, $44,530, p, 1:56.4. Neal Russo, Jamie Dunlap, 7/16): 6-year-old granddaughter of Three Wizzards (the sixth-place finisher in Buffalo Raceway's Hopeful Pace in 1990) took a big drop in class and won her sixth race of the season in 1:58 2/5 on May 7. ... Drew the rail in the $9,000 Fillies & Mares Open Handicap on June 25 and won in a season's best 1:57. ... Won in a season's best 1:56 4/5 on July 16 to become the season's richest horse. ... 4. Compass Connection (6-1-2-1, $10,980, p, 1:54 3/5. Bob Gruber, Ray Fisher Jr., 7/3): Veteran campaigner recently acquired from Canada wired the field from post 1 in 1:54 3/5, then the second-fastest mile of the season, in the $9,000 Open Handicap Pace on June 5. ... It was his 37th win in 168 starts and pushed his career bankroll over $400,000. ... Owned by Jude Jacobs of East Aurora and a bunch of friends.

5. Cry For Cash (22-4-2-4, $32,040, p, 1:55 3/5. Ron Beback Jr., Ron Beback Jr., 7/17): 5-year-old gelding wired the field in 1:58 2/5 to win the $9,000 Open Handicap Pace from post 3 on Feb. 27 to become the first horse to win the Saturday night feature twice this season. ... Made it three on April 17 with a front-running victory in 1:55 3/5. ... Won his fourth on May 8 in 1:57 4/5. ... Owned by the threesome of J.D. Critelli of Lockport and William Switala and James Martin of Clarence. ... Switala and Martin's OK Commander, driven by Brian Sears for trainer Gregg McNair, won an elimination race in 1:47 4/5 at the Meadowlands and will be competing in the $1 million Meadowlands Pace on Saturday, July 17.

6. Redneck Reindeer (17-6-5-3, $41,160, t, 2:00.1. Sherri Holliday, Ken Holliday, 7/9): 6-year old gelding stepped up in class and wired the best trotters in the $9,000 Open Handicap in 2:01 3/5 on April 9 for his third win in five local starts since arriving from Canada. ... Won for the third time in four starts on April 23. ... After a losing trip to Vernon Downs, he won his fifth of the year in a season's best 2:00 1/5 on May 7. ... 7 . Manfromnantucket (6-3-1-0, $16,920, t, 1:59. Allan McCarty, Ron Beback Jr., 7/2): 5-year-old gelding won the $9,000 Open Handicap Trot on May 28 after breaking at the start as the 8-5 favorite the previous week. ... Repeated June 11 with a 1:59 3/5 mile and scored again in 1:59 to win a four-horse photo on June 18.. ... Owned by trainer McCarty of Hamburg.

8. Pembroke Primo (24-4-6-6, $40,595, p, 1:57 3/5. John Cummings Sr., Kevin Cummings, 7/16): 6-year-old mare broke a long losing streak by winning the the $9,000 Fillies & Mares Handicap in 1:57 3/5 on June 11. ... Her excellent in-the-money record has made her one of the season's richest horses. ... Owned by Mark Jakubik of West Seneca.

9. Jim (24-10-2-4, $31,061, t, 1:59 4/5. Jim McNeight, Jim McNeight, 7/16): 8-year-old son of SJ's Photo, the 1995 champion male trotter, became the meet's winningest horse when he won for the ninth time on June 18, while carrying a $10,000 claiming tag. ... Posted his 10th win, in a season's best 1:59 4/5, on June 25. ... Owned by Michael Ventura of Williamsville.

10. Boomer Berman (22-9-9-0, $39,250, t, 2:00 1/5. Lisa Lederhouse, Jack Flanigen, 7/18): It was Boomer Berman Day at Buffalo Raceway July 11 and the big guy responded with a last-to-first victory in 2:01 for his ninth win of the season. ... This 14-year-old Pennsylvania-bred gelding has won 85 times in 2387 career starts. ... It was his 40th Western New York win, and 14th for trainer Lisa Lederhouse, since he took an Open Handicap race at Hamburg in 2:01 on May 10, 2002 for trainer/driver Steve Schoeffel. ... Owned by Kathy Schoeffel of Evans City, Pa.

LM Tarzoon (7-1-0-2, $1,860, p, 2:03. Paul Wright Jr., Bev Kingston, 7/18): 6-year-old gelding was 8-1 on the morning line but was let go at more than 57-1 and paid $117.50 for his 2:03 victory against $4,000 claimers. ... Despite his huge payoff, the Sunday matinee late double with favorite She's A Screamer ($4.40) in the previous race returned only $56. ... Roadside Delight: (1-1-0-0, $9,990, p, 1:56 3/5. Richard Norman, Jack Flanigen, 7/10): 2-year-old colt won a New York Sire Stakes race July 10 in 1:56 3/5 and broke a Buffalo Raceway track record for 2-year-old pacing colts (1:56 4/5) that was held by Dee Magic Man, who won the $90,000 Hopeful Final on July 28, 2001, when she was driven by Jim McNeight... Owned by David McDuffee of Delray Beach, Fla.

Online Auction (1-1-0-0, $4,500, t, 2:00 1/5. Jeff Bolyard, Jeff Bolyard, 7/9): Invader from the Meadows in Pennsylvania took advantage of being assigned the No. 1 post at won the $9,000 Invitational Trot by 2 3/4 lengths, paying $20.80, over Hello Carlo on July 9 in 2:00 1/5 while leading all the way. ...
