Don't be stubborn, go with the best matchups

One of the biggest frustrations — depending on the side you're on — of fantasy

football is the unpredictability. How many times has the top seed in your league's playoffs

seen his or her dominant season brought to an end by a No. 6 seed who sneaked into the

postseason and went on a George Mason-like run?

When it comes to the playoffs, there is no room for stubbornness. Just because you drafted

Carolina's DeAngelo Williams in the first round doesn't mean you should start him this week if

it means leaving a player like the Chiefs' Jamaal Charles on the bench.

Look for the most favorable matchups on the schedule. In the playoffs, they take on added

significance. That being the case, here are some of the best matchups in Week 15:

Quarterback: Kurt Warner, Arizona Cardinals — Considering the egg Warner laid in Week

14 against San Francisco (178 passing yards, two interceptions), there's a chance a lot of his

owners may not have advanced this far. If they did, they should be rewarded with a matchup

against Detroit. The Lions, as they did last week, lead the NFL in fantasy points allowed to

opposing quarterbacks, according to stats kept on nfl.com.

Running back: Charles, Kansas City — Charles got the Bills' league-worst rushing

defense in Week 14, but is far from a one-week wonder. He's got five touchdowns in the past

five games and gets the second-worst run defense this week in Cleveland.

Running back: Beanie Wells, Arizona Cardinals — Continuing the Cardinals' theme,

Wells is a good sleeper choice against the Lions. Detroit has given up 16 rushing touchdowns

this season and was gashed for a ridiculous 308 yards last week against Baltimore.

Wide receiver: Vincent Jackson, San Diego Chargers — Jackson picked the perfect time

to break out of his slump, catching nine balls for 120 yards last week against Dallas.

The Chargers face Cincinnati on Sunday. How the Bengals will be ready to play a football

game just days after losing teammate Chris Henry is beyond me.

Stay away from White

Next up on Darrelle Revis' list of fantasy victims: Falcons wide receiver Roddy White. Revis,

the New York Jets cornerback who should be on the short list for defensive player of the year,

has six interceptions and 30 pass break-ups. He's also helped the Jets to the best passing

defense in the league, at 160.4 yards per game. It all adds up to giving White a week off.

Cowboys-Saints early

As if the Thursday night games aren't enough to remember, the NFL schedule has another

wrinkle this week. The Saints continue their quest for perfection with a game Saturday night

against the Cowboys that should have plenty of fantasy implications.

On the Dallas side, quarterback Tony Romo and wide receiver Miles Austin get to face a New

Orleans pass defense that has given up the ninth-most points to wideouts. A bonus for Romo and

Austin owners: if the 'Boys fall behind, they'll be throwing plenty.

One Dallas player to stay away from is running back Marion Barber, who hasn't scored in the

last six weeks.

On the New Orleans side, beware of any Saint not named Drew Brees. The Saints' offense,

great as it is, is so balanced it can hurt fantasy production.

A good sleeper at receiver, however, is Robert Meachem. When he's not throwing a hand grenade

into fantasy leagues by scoring defensive touchdowns, which he did in Week 13 against

Washington, Meachem has four red-zone targets in the past four games.

Analyzing the Bills

Ryan Fitzpatrick, like Trent Edwards before him, is killing the fantasy numbers of Lee

Evans and Terrell Owens. Evans has long struggled against the Patriots, so he should sit,

while starting Owens takes plenty of guts.

Fred Jackson had a nice performance in Week One against New England, but that was before

Marshawn Lynch came back. Jackson should start and see more carries, but that doesn't make him

a great option.

On the Pats side, Tom Brady has long carved up the Bills' secondary. He and favorite target

Wes Welker are must-starts. Receiver Randy Moss' problems in recent weeks have been

well-documented, but he's also worthy of a start. Laurence Maroney has seized control of the

starting RB job in New England and has put up steady, if unspectacular, numbers. As previously

covered, the Bills' run defense is awful, so Maroney is a good play as a No. 2 running back.
