Week 10 of the NFL season was the type feared by all fantasy football owners.

Just short of a half-dozen running backs left their respective games early with injuries,

so it's a good time to update their status heading into Sunday.

Cedric Benson, Cincinnati Bengals: Benson has been a pleasant fantasy surprise this

season for the Bengals, but he left Sunday's game against Pittsburgh with a hip abductor

strain. The injury is not believed to be serious, but there's a good chance the Bengals will

hold him out in Week 11 against the hapless Raiders. Be sure to monitor the inactives Sunday

morning before making a decision on whether to start Benson.

Michael Turner, Atlanta Falcons: Turner suffered the dreaded high ankle sprain

against Carolina. He's listed as questionable for Sunday, but didn't practice Thursday and

would have to make significant progress today and Saturday to have any chance to play.

Consider adding Jason Snelling if he's available.

Julius Jones, Seattle Seahawks: There's no decision to make here: Jones has already

been ruled out. Justin Forsett will start for the Seahawks.

Ronnie Brown, Miami Dolphins: Like Jones, Brown was of no use for his Week 11 game,

which came Thursday night against Carolina. In fact, he won't be of any use the rest of the

season after being placed on injured reserve. Drop him to free a roster spot.

Brian Westbrook, Philadelphia Eagles: Two concussions in four weeks have Westbrook's

career in jeopardy. It would be in his best interest to not play the rest of the season, but

the Eagles and Westbrook have not made that decision thus far. He's definitely out for Week

11, though, so stash him on your bench for now.

Jones-Drew's mea culpa

One of the most-talked about plays from Week 10 was Maurice Jones-Drew's decision to

take a knee on the 1-yard line against the New York Jets instead of going in for an easy

touchdown. His quote after the game was one of the season's best: "Sorry to my fantasy owners.

I apologize. I had myself [Sunday]. It was a tough call, but whatever it takes to get the

victory, that's what counts."

The thought of Jones-Drew sitting at his computer, debating whether to take himself out of

the lineup, kills me. Chances are with the season he's having, however, Jones-Drew's not

benching himself too often. That especially goes for Sunday when he faces the Bills, who have

the league's worst run defense.

According to research on ESPN, Jones-Drew's knee cost 10,000 fantasy players their game,

which meant it made another 10,000 winners, so it affected 20,000 fantasy players. And that's

just in ESPN leagues.

Even better, Jones-Drew was one of those that lost because of his own selfless play. He

told ESPN's Paul Kuharsky he lost his game by five points.

"That would have had me at 6-4 at the top of my league," Jones-Drew said. "It might cost

me, but I trust that my team will step it up these next couple weeks and get us back into

contention."

How do you really feel?

John Halpin has a fantasy blog on foxnews.com called "Wide Write." Something tells me it

won't become a must-read for Bills fans. In this week's column, Halpin advises sitting Bills

receiver Lee Evans. He even lists five reasons, the third of which is "The Bills stink."

Analyzing the Bills

As of Thursday afternoon, Trent Edwards was owned in 28.2 percent of ESPN leagues, while

Ryan Fitzpatrick was owned in just 0.6 percent. That's a lot of people not paying attention to

their teams. In any event, neither of them have much fantasy value.

I'll disagree with Halpin and suggest starting Lee Evans. Four touchdowns in four weeks is

a streak worth riding.

On the Jags side, of course, start Jones-Drew. Mike Sims-Walker has developed into a solid

No. 2 fantasy receiver and should be viewed as such. Quarterback David Garrard is a low-end

fantasy starter who has thrown for 2,088 yards this season, but just seven touchdowns.
