Casal signs with XCel

Story tools:

Niagara Falls boxer Nick Casal has signed a promotional agreement with Nick Garone of XCel Worldwide Promotions.

Casal, 23, fought on Garone’s fight card in Buffalo last June, making quick work of Shad Howard in three rounds to improve to 19-4-1 with 15 KOs.

Last June’s dominant display display convinced Garone to sign the former under-19 world amateur champion who once was represented by big-time manager Shelly Finkel, who has managed the likes of Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield.

“Nick Casal has all the natural talent you could hope for,” Garone said. “But as he found out in his last few fights, that’s only part of the equation.”

Casal will be among the local boxers featured on Garone’s Nov. 6 card at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.
