Angelo ousted by Simard
If Brad Angelo can avoid Ken Simard in match play in this week’s PBA Tour Cheetah Championship at AMF Thruway Lanes, so much the better.
Simard, who threw a 300 game at Angelo in match play Friday, nearly did it again Sunday, defeating the Lockport pro, 289-189, in the second match of the stepladder finals in Vernon Hills, Ill.
Simard went on to lose to No. 1 seed Wes Malott, 216-211, in the title match.
In Sunday’s first stepladder match, Angelo opened in the second frame after leaving the 4-6-7 on his first ball but put together five strikes in a row later in the match to overtake Jason Couch, 225-212.
Michelle Feldman of Auburn defeated Missy Bellinder of Fullerton, Calif., 200-147, in the championship match of the USBC Women’s Series event at Vernon Hills.
The Cheetah Championship at Thruway gets under way Wednesday with the Tour Qualifying Round. Qualifying for the Cheetah and the USBC Women’s event will begin Thursday.
