Williams will be All-Star
Mo Williams is finally an All-Star. Twice snubbed, the Cleveland Cavaliers point guard was added to the roster by NBA Commissioner David Stern as a replacement for injured Toronto Raptors forward Chris Bosh.
Williams’ teammates and Cleveland owner Dan Gilbert were dismayed last week when Williams was twice left off the Eastern Conference.
The Cavaliers weren’t as happy on the court Tuesday as a foul on LeBron James with 0.2 seconds to go allowed Indiana’s Danny Granger to make the game-winning free throw in a 96-95 win for the Pacers.
In other All-Star news, Rookie of the Year Kevin Durant and O. J. Mayo, a favorite for this season’s award, highlight the field for a H-O-R-S-E competition during All-Star Saturday night. Atlanta’s Joe Johnson is the other competitor.
Also, Denver swingman J. R. Smith will replace Memphis forward Rudy Gay in the slam dunk contest. Gay has a strained left hip.
