Colorado 11, L. A. Angels 1: The Rockies won their 17th game in 18 tries as Brad Hawpe hit his 11th home run and drove in three runs.

Oakland 5, San Francisco 1: Bobby Crosby drove in three runs, rookie Trevor Cahill won his third straight decision and the Athletics ended a five-game losing streak. The Giants had outscored Oakland, 27-4, during the five straight wins dating to last season.

National League

Atlanta 2, Chicago Cubs 0: Javier Vazquez and three Braves relievers combined to shut out the Cubs, who left 12 runners on base as their four-game winning streak ended.

N. Y. Mets 6, St. Louis 4: Tim Redding pitched into the eighth inning for his first win with the Mets, who beat the Cardinals. Before the game, New York placed Carlos Beltran on the disabled list.

Around the horn

Cincinnati Reds: Shortstop Alex Gonzalez has had surgery to remove four bone chips in his right elbow. Gonzalez is expected to miss four to five weeks.
