Chicago Cubs 8, Cleveland 7 (10): Ryan Theriot hit a bad-hop single with two outs in the 10th inning and the Cubs, saved by Derrek Lee’s late homer, rallied from an early seven-run deficit.
Baltimore 7, Philadelphia 2: Rich Hill pitched into the seventh inning and singled in the go-ahead run, as the Orioles handed the Phillies their fourth straight loss.
Milwaukee at Detroit: The Tigers gave manager Jim Leyland a two-year contract extension Friday through the 2011 season. Leyland took the Tigers to the World Series in 2006.
Washington 2, Toronto 1: Adam Dunn hit a bases-loaded single in the 11th inning to give the Nationals their third straight win, matching their season high.
Atlanta 8, Boston 2: Nate McLouth homered on the game’s first pitch and the Braves’ Kenshin Kawakami beat more-heralded countryman Daisuke Matsuzaka.
Cincinnati 4, Chicago White Sox 3: Brandon Phillips hit a two-run homer, his first since June 3, and Bronson Arroyo got his first June victory for the Reds, who ended a nine-game losing streak against the White Sox.
N. Y. Mets 5, Tampa Bay 3: Fernando Nieve turned in another impressive start and Brian Schneider hit a three-run homer, helping the Mets open a 10-game homestand by improving to 6-10 in June.
Minnesota 5, Houston 3: Kevin Slowey became the second 10- game winner in the majors as the Twins moved above .500 for the first time since May 14.
St. Louis 10, Kansas City 5: Albert Pujols hit a two-run single when the Royals pitched to him and Ryan Ludwick hit a grand slam when they didn’t, helping the Cardinals beat their in-state rival.
L. A. Dodgers at L. A. Angels: Saturday’s pitching duel between brothers Jeff (Dodgers) and Jered (Angels) Weaver will mark their first matchup, and the 21st sibling duel in history. Oakland at San Diego: The Padres’ Adrian Gonzalez is hitting .348 (8 for 23) against AL opponents this season, and 8 for 18 (.444) in his last four games versus the A’s.
Arizona at Seattle: Diamondbacks pitcher Jon Garland is win-less since defeating Florida on May 19. He is 0-5 with a 6.67 ERA in his last five starts.
Texas at San Francisco: The Rangers are hitting .249 and averaging 4.4 runs away from home, as opposed to a .275 average and 5.4 runs per game in Arlington.
National League
Colorado 7, Pittsburgh 3: Jason Marquis shut down the Pirates over 8c innin 3/4 1/3 and the Rockies posted their 14th win in 15 games. Colorado manager Jim Tracy faced the team he managed in 2006-07 for the first time.

Feller to take mound: Bob Feller, baseball’s second-oldest living Hall of Famer at 90, is scheduled to start in the inaugural Baseball Hall of Fame Classic in Cooperstown Sunday, which replaces the Hall of Fame Game. Feller will be joined by four other Hall of Famers—Ferguson Jenkins, Paul Molitor, Phil Niekro and Brooks Robinson.
Glavine to lay low: Tom Glavine says he plans to “hang out” for the rest of the summer but is not announcing his retirement. The Atlanta Braves released the 43-year-old Glavine on June 3 after he finished a rehabilitation from offseason surgery on his left elbow and shoulder.
