Toronto at Baltimore: The game was suspended by rain with the Blue Jays leading, 2-1, in the sixth inning. Play will resume this afternoon.

National League

N. Y. Mets 6, Philadelphia 3: Jose Reyes’ three-run homer snapped a sixth-inning tie and the Mets, with closer Billy Wagner back, rebounded from a demoralizing 8-6 loss to the Phillies a night earlier.

Atlanta 9, Florida 4: The Braves came away with the victory despite losing starter Tim Hudson (tender elbow) and major league batting leader Chipper Jones (left hamstring) during the game.

Milwaukee 3, St. Louis 0: CC Sabathia (4-0) threw a three-hitter, his third straight complete game for the Brewers, who have won seven straight.

Cincinnati 9, San Diego 5: Adam Dunn hit a grand slam and the Reds kept Greg Maddux on the longest winless streak of his sterling career. The 42-year-old right-hander has not won since May 10, going 14 starts without a victory.

Colorado 5, L. A. Dodgers 3: Matt Holliday drove in two runs as the Rockies closed out a seven-game homestand with a 6-1 mark.

Pittsburgh 8, Houston 7: Jason Bay hit a two-run homer to help the Pirates earn their first road sweep of the season and first three-game win streak since May 6-12.

Chicago Cubs 10, Arizona 6: Reed Johnson’s eighth-inning grand slam broke the game open for the Cubs, who activated outfielder Alfonso Soriano prior to the game. He went 1 for 5 with an RBI after missing six weeks (left hand).

San Francisco 6, Washington 4: Bengie Molina went 3 for 4 with two RBIs as the Giants won consecutive home games in a series for the first time since May 10 and 11.

Around the horn

N. Y. Yankees: Catcher Jorge Posada was again advised to have surgery on his throwing shoulder but wants to put it off even if it means sacrificing the start of next season. If he does play the rest of this year, it won’t be behind the plate.

Milwaukee Brewers: Signed former major leaguer Jay Gibbons. The 31-year-old outfielder, released by Baltimore in March, will be assigned to Double-A Huntsville (Ala.).
