UB’s loss in tourney very disappointing
After UB’s loss in the MAC quarterfinals, Bobby Hurley stated his team “deserved better.” They had the league player of the year in Javon McCrea and a talented, veteran team with several promising freshmen (thanks to Reggie Witherspoon). They blew leads of ten or more points in the second half several times this year. A division-winning team is not supposed to lose in the quarterfinals.
And, Eastern Michigan, the team that defeated UB, lost by 15 points the next night. The only thing they deserved better was coaching. And they let him go last spring.
Free agents are nice, but results matter most
Before the 12th Man gets all excited about the Bills’ venture into free agency, there are things we should consider.
There are two types of free agents. There are those whose contract numbers no longer fit under their team’s cap. They may have been overpaid in the first place and this is the team’s way of unloading a cap hit. Then there are the players whose talent level no longer fits into the team’s plans and they may have been a weak link to begin with. Many free agents hear the term “we’re going in a different direction” or they may have been in need of a leash off the field.
Free agency can be summed up by the following phrase: The good, the bad and the ugly. Before you start planning for playoff games for the Buffalo Bills please consider our previous ventures into free agency. Time will tell where our new leadership guides this troubled franchise. Until then, Buffalo is defined by the three C’s: The City of Come Close.
