Catch the Luck, the 8-year-old son of A.P. Indy, won the Puss N Boots Cup race on the dirt Sunday at Fort Erie Race Track. Catch the Luck ($5.30), ridden by Brad Wilson, covered the mile-and-sixteenth distance in 1:44. Village Drive and Kings Parade rounded out the top three.
The Puss N Boots race has become a tradition at Fort Erie. It is named for a horse that made a left turn coming down the stretch in a 1961 race and jumped into the infield pond, rider and all. Traditionally, the winning rider and trainer of the Puss N Boots jump into the same pond after the race is complete.
