Recap

Dobbs Ferry had three players rush for 100 yards, its quarterback was 8 for 9 and the  defense pitched a shutout as the Eagles dominated Southwestern, 39-0, to win the Class C state championship Saturday afternoon at Syracuse University's Carrier Dome. 

The state title is the fourth for Dobbs Ferry, in its state-record seventh trip to the finals. The Eagles (12-1) are tied with Caledonia-Mumford of Section V (Rochester area) behind the another Section V school, private school power Aquinas, which has the most titles with five. 

John Yozzo-Scaperrotta ran 13 times for 118 yards and three touchdowns for Dobbs Ferry, including two in a first half in which the Eagles took a 27-0 lead. 

Tim Soave ran 19 times for 110 yards and a score while Eddie Ritch ran 15 times for 127 yards and a TD. 

Dobbs Ferry quarterback Spencer Avalos earned game MVP honors with a 9-of-10 performance for 146 yards and a cushion-inflating TD with :47 seconds left in the first half.

Southwestern (11-2) not only could not contain the Eagles it could not move the ball itself. Dobbs Ferry owned the following advantages: First downs (30-6); total yards (567-96); rushing (61 carries for 421 yards to 18-49); and possession time (30:41-17:19). The Eagles never punted. 

Junior Jake Pilling was 7 of 26 passing for 54 yards and two interceptions. Senior Jake Swan had five catches for 30 yards and six runs for 25 yards. Swan had 12 tackles, senior Tyler Uber had 11 and junior Peter Trathen had 10.
