Kleckner and Brian Daigler of Sweet Home were named to NSCAA’s All Region II Team.
The coaches association also announced its All-State teams. Local players cited among large schools were: Kleckner (first team), Daigler (second), Sam Wasson of Clarence (third), Jake Montante of Canisius (fourth) and Vickram Goel of Williamsville East (fifth).
Small school All-Staters were: Pete Calleri of Nichols (first), Mat Born of Randolph (second), Zach Jackson of Randolph (fourth) and Scott Barber of Medina/Lyndonville (fifth).
Barnaby hat trick lifts St. Joe’s hockey
Sophomore Matthew Barnaby had a hat trick, giving him four goals in six games, as St. Joe’s beat Lancaster, 5-2, Sunday in Federation hockey.
In a battle of unbeatens, West Seneca East beat Kenmore East, 3-2, at Buffalo State. Mike Benaquist scored twice in the third period to help the Trojans move to 3-0 in Division II small schools. Matt Radder had 26 saves for the Trojans.Elliot Crimmen and Louie Oliveri had two goals each as Canisius move to 1-1-1 with an 11-3 win over Timon/St. Jude.
Grazen ranked nationally in 55 dash
Lancaster sophomore Ashley Grazen ran a 7.26 in the 55 dash at Bomber Invitational indoor track meet at Ithaca College, ranking her third in the country, according to milesplit.com. Mitch Fuller won the boys’ 55, winning in 6.72. Lancaster enjoyed a 1-2-3 finish in the shot put led by Tony DeYoung’s 53 feet, 8 inches.
Grazen, Allie Mazur, Molly Scarpello and Tiffany Cycon won the 4x200 relay (1:47.84). Mazur was runner-up in the 55. McKenzie Kuehlewind won the weight throw in 44-5 and was runner-up in the shot at 43-5. Lancaster teams combined for six first places.
