The West Side Rowing Club’s Youth Women’s 4+ had an eventful ride at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston on Sunday.

The boat collided with another team, and recovered well enough to finish with the seventh-best time in its class. However, judges penalized the WSRC boat one minute for the collision, which dropped the team to 33rd place.

West Side’s crew was made up of Claire Conrad (Buffalo Seminary), Chloe Keating (Nichols), Emily Evans (City Honors), Emily Radziwon (Orchard Park) and Ashley Johnson (Clarence).

Elsewhere, Nardin was 67th in the Youth Eights Women High School, and 46th in the Youth Fours Women High School. Buffalo Seminary was 73rd in that latter event. Canisius was 22nd in the Youth Eights Men High School, and 53rd in the Youth Fours.

Among area rowers who graduated from Canisius, Will Downing was part of a Princeton crew that won the title in the Lightweight Eight. Andrew Karas and the Navy crew finished 10th in the Varsity Lightweight Eights. James Hamp and his Princeton team finished 13th in the Championship Eights.
