Jamestown at The Ralph: 9-6. Lost the last two championships to Orchard Park (35-20 last year and 30-10 in 2011); its 2011 appearance was first since winning the 2000 title (23-0 over Lancaster).

Frontier at The Ralph: 2-0. First appearance since beating Jamestown, 6-3, in 1984; also beat Sweet Home, 28-0, in 1980.

Last meeting: The teams did not meet in Class AA play this year due to the nine-team division having an unbalanced schedule. The teams split two meetings last year, with host Frontier handing Jamestown its only regular season loss, 35-28, before Jamestown won at home, 42-14, in the sectional semifinals.
