Nothing makes a 5-0 football coach more nervous than a road trip to Jamestown.
Lancaster coach Len Jankiewicz overcame those fears in a big way Friday night, handing the
Red Raiders a 28-7 loss while handing themselves the Class AA South title.
In the series history, Lancaster was 4-12-1 at Jamestown's Strider Field, including seven
losses in a row from 1990-2002. QB Justin Juda reversed the luck of the undermanned Redskins
as he threw for 185 yards and rushed for 99 more. Juda, Zack Maryniewski and Cory Davis had
rushing TDs, while Liam O'Brien caught a 4-yard TD pass. Lancaster's defense forced three
turnovers.
"Going down there, it's a long road trip for kids, and you never know what you might get
down there," said Jankiewicz. "The biggest thing is Jamestown was coming off two wins. They
had some momemtum coming in."
The league title was Lancaster's first since 2004. At 6-0 they are off to their best start
since the 2001 team won its first seven. Lancaster was without four two-way starters, all
injured.
