Local teaching pro Marlene Davis placed second last week at the LPGA Teaching & Club Professionals annual national championship at the Chateau Elan Golf Club in Braselton, Ga.

Davis, who teaches at the Paddock Dome/Brighton Driving Range and the Buffalo Tournament Club, shot rounds of 79, 77 and 76. She carded a 1-under 35 in a driving rain on the final nine of the tourney to come from behind and claim the $2,000 runnerup check.

Davis is a former champion at the national event.
