Clarence’s Dudley Hart was a late withdrawal from the Honda Classic field in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., on Thursday morning because of a recurrence of the back problems that have plagued him for nearly five years.
The 45-year-old is playing on a major medical exemption granted this season by the PGA Tour. That allows him to play in 12 tournaments. In those, he must earn $504,284 to maintain his exempt status for the remainder of the season.
Hart has played in two tournaments this year – missing the cut at the Humana Challenge in January and finishing in a tie for 35th earlier this month at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.
By withdrawing, as he did earlier this month prior to the start of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, he still has 10 tournaments remaining to earn $475,145.
