Stoddard shines for Bona
Updated: August 21, 2010, 1:52 AM
Chris Stoddard (Southwestern), playing on his home course, shot a 1- over-par 73 to share medalist honors and help lead St. Bonaventure to its sixth straight Little Three golf championship at the Moon Brook Country Club in Jamestown.
The Bonnies’ four-man total was 301, one shot better than Canisius (302). Niagara was third with 328.
Stoddard, a junior who twice was an All-Western New York punter for Southwestern, tied for medalist with teammate Kevin Lewis, a sophomore, and Canisius sophomore Stephen Seeler. Lewis had three birdies on the course’s four par-5 holes. Three Bona golfers finished in the top five. Brian McKenna of the Bonnies finished in a tie for fourth with a 3-over 75. Seeler is the first Little Three medalist from Canisius since Rob Krajewski in 2004.
