The Daemen College men’s basketball team will look to add to its East Coast Conference regular-season championship today when it plays Concordia (Ala.) in the quarterfinals of the USCAA National Championship Tournament.
The game will be played in the Penn State-Fayette Arena in Uniontown, Pa., starting at 2 p.m. The Wildcats are the No. 1 seed, while Concordia is No. 8. The winner will play either No. 4 Washington Adventist or No. 5 Robert Morris-Springfield (Ill.) in the semifinals at 8 p.m. Thursday.
Daemen (20-6, 17-3) closed the regular season by winning 16 consecutive league games. Five players average in double figures, led by junior forward Gerald Beverly, who hit double figures in all 26 games, including with 15 double-doubles.
WRESTLING: Tony Lock (Pioneer) grabbed the No. 5 seed at 184 pounds making him the highest ranked University at Buffalo wrestler going into the Mid-American Conference Championships at Kent State on Saturday and Sunday.
The Bulls also have two other wrestlers ranked, with Max Soria No. 7 at 125 pounds and Nick Flannery No. 7 at 141 pounds.
This year, Northern Iowa enters the MAC Wrestling Championship ranked No. 5 in the country and is the only undefeated wrestling team in the nation with a 13-0 record.
