Canisius College, the ECAC champion the lsts 17 years, wrapped up its synchronized swimming season by finishing fourth among 16 teams in the U.S. Collegiate National Championships Saturday in Oxford, Ohio.

Lindenwood (Mo.) took home the overall championship with 96 points. The Griffs finished with 62, 10 behind third-place Stanford. Ohio State was second.

Canisius was led by a bronze medal performance by senior Svetlana Ponkratova, who scored an 84.80 in the solo. Sophomore Laura Schmidt was sixth in solo.

Sophomore Laine Gray and senior Jessica Mancini of the Griffs were fifth in duet (83.70). Two Canisius trios made the finals with Schmidt, Ponkratova and Gray taking sixth (83.05) and Mancini and seniors Morgan Lebrecht and Deanna Desimone finishing seventh (82.30).

The Canisius team routine with Ponkratova, Schmidt, Gray, Lebrecht, Desimone and seniors Viktoria Mironova and sophomore Kristin Oswald finished seventh (82.30).
