Manuel candidate for Michigan job

University at Buffalo Athletic Director Warde Manuel is being mentioned as a possible candidate to replace Michigan AD Bill Martin, who announced his retirement effective Sept. 4, 2010.

Manuel played defensive back at Michigan for the legendary football coach Bo Schembechler and was a high-ranking administrator in the athletics department there before coming to UB in July 2005.

Manuel has presided over the Bulls football team's ascension to national renown under coach Turner Gill.

Among other possible candidates for the Michigan job: Miami (Ohio) AD Brad Bates, Eastern Michigan's Derrick Gragg, and David Brandon, a former Wolverines football player and regent who is the CEO of Domino's Pizza in Ann Arbor.
