UB hoop schedule set
Non-league games against 2007 NCAA Tournament teams Connecticut and Temple at Alumni Arena highlight the University at Buffalo men’s basketball schedule released Thursday.
UB plays eight schools that participated in the postseason last year, and opens the 2008-09 season with three consecutive road games. The Bulls open at Youngstown State on Nov. 15, play at crosstown rival Canisius College on Nov. 18 and at Evansville Nov. 22.
The Bulls’ home opener is on Nov. 25 against Niagara University. Temple, the 2008 Atlantic 10 Champion, will make its first trip to Buffalo in 32 years on Nov. 29. UB hosts UConn on Dec. 4, the Huskies first trip to Buffalo to play a local team since the 1949-50 season. The Huskies could enter the season ranked among the nation’s top five.
The Bulls host Florida International (Dec. 6) and UNC Asheville (Dec. 20) before playing at Siena on December 23. The Bulls will close out 2008 in Hawaii as they play in the 45th Outrigger Hotels Rainbow Classic. UB will play three games from December 28 to 30 and open against Pepperdine. It will then play either Coppin State or Colorado on Dec. 29. A third game will be played Dec. 30. This year’s field consists of Colorado State, Coppin State, Colorado, George Washington, Pepperdine, Vermont and host Hawaii.
