Softball

UB’s seventh-inning rally came up a run short in a 6-5 loss to Ohio U. in a MAC game at Nan Harvey Field. Erin Zilka drove in a pair of runs for the Bulls (18-16) in their final at-bat but was stranded at second base.

• Sherri Thompson pitched the distance in the first game and St. Bonaventure made an early lead stand up in the second as the Bonnies (7-19, 5-7) swept an A-10 doubleheader from La Salle, 4-2 and 4-3. Kara Morenus’ two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth won the first game. Shelly Seeger’s triple opened the second game for the Bonnies. An RBI single by Kathryn Pazda followed. In the second inning, Brooke Frey’s double sent home the first of three runs in the inning.
