New Mexico Bowl

Colorado St. 40, Fresno St. 35: Gartrell Johnson rushed for a career- high 285 yards and scored two TDs for the Rams, who capped a winning season for coach Steve Fairchild, the ex-Bills offensive coordinator.

St. Petersburg Bowl

South Florida 41, Memphis 14: Matt Grothe passed West Virginia’s Pat White as the Big East’s career total offense leader, throwing for 236 yards and three TDs for the Bulls.

Eagle Bank Bowl

Wake Forest 29, Navy 19: Deacons QB Riley Skinner went 11 for 11 passing and threw the go-ahead touchdown pass to Ben Wooster with 7:52 left.

Division III championship

Mount Union 31, Wisconsin- Whitewater 26: Greg Micheli threw two touchdown passes and Nate Kmic became the first running back at any NCAA level to reach the 8,000-yard mark for career rushing yards for Mount Union.

Today’s New Orleans Bowl

Southern Mississippi (6-6) vs. Troy (8-4), 8 p. m., ESPN: Troy’s spread offense racked up more than 5,000 yards and the Trojans scored 33 points per game, while the Golden Eagles won their last four games.

Rhoads goes to Iowa State: Iowa native Paul Rhoads, who spent last season as the defensive coordinator at Auburn, was named the new coach at Iowa State.
