Vanderbilt 24, No. 24 South Carolina 17: Chris Nickson threw for a touchdown and ran for another for the Commodores, who hadn’t upset a ranked team in Vanderbilt Stadium since Sept. 19, 1992, a 31-9 win over then-No. 25 Mississippi.

Delaware State 35, Florida A&M 28 (OT): QB Vashon Winton ran for four TDs, including a 6-yarder for the winner, as the Hornets opened defense of their Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference title.
