Page out as Niagara coach
Niagara will not renew Margot Page’s contract as coach of the women’s hockey team when it expires in May, Athletic Director Ed McLaughlin announced Monday.
Page, who joined the university 12 years ago, has guided the team for 10 of its 11 seasons. The exception was 2005-06, when she took a leave of absence to work with the Canadian Olympic team.
“We thank Margot for all her work to establish the women’s ice hockey program at Niagara,” McLaughlin said in a statement. “While we have made strides, we feel a new direction is needed to achieve our goals of winning a conference championship and establishing ourselves as a national presence.”
Over her 10 seasons behind the bench, Page’s teams compiled a record of 135 wins, 172 losses and 35 ties.
This past season’s team finished the season with a 6-25-5 mark.
