Story tools:

LEWISTON—Niagara has a three-game unbeaten streak and a six-game winless streak after playing Alabama-Huntsville to a 2-2 tie Friday night in College Hockey America play at Dwyer Arena.

Sam Goodwin’s goal at 6:45 of the third period tied it for the Purple Eagles, who have battled their last three opponents to draws after enduring a three-game losing streak. Chris Moran also scored for Niagara (15-13-5, 8-5-4) and now has 97 career points.

Cameron Talbot had 37 saves for the visiting Chargers (5-18-4, 3-10-4). The same two teams meet tonight at 7 in Dwyer Arena.

Meanwhile, the Niagara women’s hockey team’s season ended in the semifinals of the College Hockey America tournament Friday afternoon, dropping an 8-2 decision to top seed Mercyhurst in Erie, Pa.

Mercyhurst, which improved to 31-4-2 alltime against Niagara, scored the first six goals of the game before NU’s Leah Whittaker and Emilie Castonguay scored late in the second period. The Lakers outshot Niagara (6-25-5), 50-13—including 23-5 in the first period.
