Kerry Caher of St. Bonaventure led the women runners, and Canisius won both the men’s and women’s team titles Saturday in the Little Three cross country meet over a 5K course at Fort Niagara State Park in Youngstown. Niagara was second among men’s teams. St. Bonaventure was second in the women’s team scoring.

Caher, an All-Atlantic 10 performer last season, covered the 5K distance in 17:55.5, more than a minute faster than runner-up Carlin Sullivan of Canisius (18:59.6). Niagara’s top finisher was Brianna Malanga, who was 10th in 19:49.5.

Canisius swept the first seven places in the men’s race for a perfect score of 15. Chad Maloy led the Griffs in 15:32.8. Brennan Root, Jeff Antolos, Mike Anvelt and Xavier Sauvageau were the next four to cross for Canisius.

Nick Orlowski was Niagara’s top finisher. He was eighth in 16:09.3. Eleventh place by Harley Thompson (16:27.0) led Bona.
